Barcelona have agreed a deal with Newcastle United to sign winger Anthony Gordon in what is the biggest moves ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Spanish side are yet to activate the clause they hold for Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford, with discussions over the transfer fee ongoing between the two clubs.
This has led to the club making a bid for Gordon, a winger who could slide directly into the team under manager Hansi Flick who clearly sees Rashford’s England teammate as a player of real quality.
The 25-year-old was previously a target for Liverpool and Bayern Munich but it is Barcelona who have made the first move as they agreed a deal before the summer window opened.
Now, as per The Guardian, Gordon is expected to earn in the region of £300,000 per week which is double his current wages at Newcastle as he makes the next step in his prosperous career.
The winger has made 152 appearances for Newcastle since joining the club from Everton in January 2023 for an initial fee of £40m. He is set to rival the likes of Lamine Yamal and Raphina in a Barcelona side who will expect him to be at his best in what is a rare move for an English player.
