After parting ways with Ruben Amorim on Monday morning, the Red Devils have placed former midfielder Darren Fletcher in charge as interim manager.
Fletcher is set to be replaced by Solskjaer over the coming weeks, as reports state that he will become caretaker manager until the end of the season.
The Norwegian is said to be ready to return after his sacking back in November 2021 and despite many fans being delighted, Agbonlahor has suggested on talkSPORT that his appointment would be a step backwards.
“It's embarrassing. When I saw the news that Solskjaer might be coming back… it's a laughingstock of a football club.
“The Manchester United fans were relieved when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got sacked. We've got receipts.
"Everyone was excited when he was getting the sack at Manchester United. It's that three years ago, and now you're bringing him back?”
United are searching for their seventh permanent manager since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in May 2013 and although Solskjaer would be just until the end of the season, many, like Agbonlahor are not happy.
Asked if he was interested in the job beyond this interim spell, Fletcher said: "Honestly, it's not something I've thought about. I'm focusing on Burnley. I think that discussion is for after the game.
"There's been that much going on, it's all happened so quickly. All my concentration and efforts and thoughts have gone into Burnley. I know that sounds like a generic answer but it is what it is."
