Manchester United interim boss Darren Fletcher has said his squad must accept criticism and pressure at the club.

Fletcher will temporarily take charge of United in the wake of Ruben Amorim's sacking on Monday morning following his comments after the 1-1 draw with Leeds United over the weekend.

The former midfielder will be in charge of Wednesday's Premier League trip to Burnley, and is likely to remain in the dugout for Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie with Brighton

He will lead the side before a caretaker manager is brought in until the end of the season and fans will eagerly await to see what he can bring to the squad who are struggling this season.

Ahead of the clash with Burnley, Fletcher has reminded his side that media attention is normal and that criticism comes naturally for one of the biggest teams in the world.

"So it is difficult, but it's the same in every club, but Manchester United is the biggest club in the world so that scrutiny, expectation, standard, it's there and it's something that you have to deal with. You have to learn to deal with, you have to get help to deal with, for some people it happens naturally, some people have to take time to get used to it but surely you try and have to deal with that constantly.

"I think it's the life of a footballer, it's a modern day world, and it's something that the players have to learn to deal with and they will and sometimes it takes time and sometimes some people can't and that's just life and that's just the way it is.

"So my thing is it's there, learn to deal with it, find a way however best suits you and embrace the challenge of being at Manchester United. Be excited by it but recognise that there is a lot of scrutiny and a lot of pressure and a lot of noise."

A win for United against Burnley could send the Red Devils into the top four, above Liverpool and Chelsea. A loss could mean more media ridicule, which Fletcher’s side must be ready for.
