It is no secret that the Red Devils will make plans to improve their midfield once the summer window arrives. Names like Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson have been passed around in what could be an exciting new look for the club.
However, as reports suggest Premier League stars, Stam has spoken to Covers.com World Cup betting about how United should be looking at one La Liga playmaker.
“My dream signing for Manchester United in the January transfer window would be Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona. United should always be looking at players who can make them play better football, and Frenkie has been on the club’s shortlist ever since Erik ten Hag was in charge.”
“I’ve worked with Frenkie a lot when he was a youngster at Ajax and he really is someone who can make a team play better football.
“He’s so comfortable on the ball and he’s got the legs to run up and down the pitch. He’s creative and he finds the right passes when he’s on the ball, which is something that United need at the moment.”
De Jong takes responsibility in the Barcelona side and if often praised for his mentality. Teammate Samuel Umtiti praised him this week which will only boost a bid from United.
“You can put him in front of the defence, you can put him as a number 8… but you have to know how to use him.
“When you live with him in training, you say to yourself: Wow,” he said.
“He’s one of the best midfielders I’ve ever played with.”
