Ferguson had a famously tough start to his tenure with the Red Devils as he missed out on silverware and pressure mounted on the legendary manager.
But, after he lifted the FA Cup in the 1989–90 season, he was able to lead the side for 26 years as he won every trophy available.
Arteta faced similar troubles at Arsenal but has now lifted the Premier League and is in the Champions League final as he chases down an incredible double.
Speaking with BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds, Pulis revealed that Arteta can be compared to Ferguson as Arsenal allow him the time to build a formidable squad.
“The people at the football club deserve a lot of credit as well because when you are looking around and seeing how managers are spinning from one club to another and another, for example Chelsea, it’s just ridiculous that they’re not giving people the time.
“Arsenal have given Mikel Arteta the time, they’ve backed him and he’s spent a decent amount of money, and he’s just fallen short until now, and fingers crossed he gets the Champions League as well to cap off what has been a remarkable season.
“He’ll go down in history and I think there’s a comparison to be made with Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
“United stuck with him and Sir Alex was eventually able to build a dynasty, but it took him five years to even win the FA Cup, and Mikel has now won the greatest prize in English football.
“If he can go on and win the greatest prize in Europe as well then fair play to him and fair play to the football club, because Arsenal are a big football club. They’re a tremendous football club.”
Arsenal face PSG in the Champions League final as Arsenal track down their first European title. A win this weekend would cement Arteta's name in history and reward the board for handing the Spaniard time to guide the team to glory.
