Overy, asked about his mentors, was eager to highlight Fernandes' influence.
He said: “My Dad, definitely… but if it is a player, I’d definitely say Bruno Fernandes.
“Last time I was with him in training I was just taking free-kicks because one of our free-kick takers was injured.
“I was thinking, if we get a free-kick, I’m gonna take this. So I’m just taking free-kicks and he comes over and for an hour, he’s there teaching me techniques. “He’s like, ‘I do this, I aim for this man, like dip it or hit it there.’ I just look up to him so much.
“Even in the sessions, he will just drive it and be one of the best players, him and Kobs (Kobbie Mainoo), yeah it’s crazy…”
