Casemiro’s decision to leave United when his contract expires at the end of the season has intensified the club’s search for a midfielder in the summer transfer window.
This, alongside rumours that captain Fernandes is a top target for the Saudi Pro League once again led to reports linking Palmer to the club in the winter transfer window.
Palmer to replace Fernandes?
Reports claimed that Palmer is unsettled in west London and misses life back up North in Manchester. However, a move never occurred as many look towards the summer window.
Speaking to Ignition Casino, Saha has revealed that Palmer could step in for Fernandes and could be the perfect player to lead the club’s midfield.
“It would be incredibly exciting to see Palmer at United. He's not a City player anymore. He has done so well with Chelsea but did have a slow start to the season, he is just a terrific player.
“He can play pretty much anywhere in attack, he disrupts any defence. So it would be very interesting to see him alongside Bruno and alongside the other new signings.
“He is a hard worker. He wants to win, and if he does think about going back to Manchester again, I'm sure that he's going to be exciting for fans.
“If Fernandes does leave Man Utd, Palmer would be the perfect replacement. He is an exciting player and is still young, he has energy and confidence that would fit in perfectly at Old Trafford.”
Rosenior rubbishes rumours
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior brushed aside rumours of Palmer leaving earlier this month, claiming there is no truth to the rumours.
"There's no reason for assurance. It's so unrealistic. It's come from nowhere. There's nothing in it. There's no reason to have the conversation. That's where I'm at.
"Cole is very happy. I've had numerous conversations with him. Our thoughts are on how we can make this team better, how he can improve and how I can help him.
