Manchester United youngster Jayden Ngwashi has been pictured in first-team training as manager Ruben Amorim hands him a chance to prove himself.

Back in June, United secured Ngwashi’s future at the club in a four-year deal despite interest from several top European sides including Paris Saint-Germain.

Ngwashi made his Under-21s debut earlier this year, an impressive feat for a 16-year-old, and now he has been spotted in first team training as many speculate whether the teenager could feature at the weekend.

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are doubts to face Nottingham Forest at the weekend, and the 17-year-old is reportedly in contention to feature on Saturday if needed.

The defender is tipped to be one of the academy’s best defenders, and it makes sense why Amorim has called him up to first team training. If any more injuries occur, he will be the first to step into the starting line up.

According to the Manchester Evening News, “strong progress” from the teenager has been rewarded and as he trains amongst the first team, he will be feeling the pressure of impressing Amorim over the next week.

United will not play in a competition other than the Premier League until the beginning of 2026 after being knocked out of the EFL Cup by Grimsby Town earlier this season. This makes it hard for young talent to make the leap to the first team, but Amorim seems to be clearing a path.
