Former Manchester United first-team coach Benni McCarthy has spoken on Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and his qualities.

England captain Kane has been in stunning form in the Bundesliga this since making the move from Tottenham, scoring 105 times in 109 games for the German giants as he ended his search for silverware last season.

The Red Devils were linked with the prolific striker when he was finding the back of the net each week for Spurs, but a move never materialized. Now, under the management of Ruben Amorim, United's still lack a striker who can score each week and be reliable up front.

Speaking to BestBettingSites.co.uk, McCarthy has revealed that he would love Kane at United, although his age may be an issue.

"At Man Utd, when you're the No. 9, you should be in the box. And yes, he scores goals. I would chop a hand off to have Harry Kane in that United squad.

"The fact is that Harry Kane is in his thirties now. So how many good years are you still going to get out of him? He might cost £56M because of the release clause, but maybe more if he doesn’t activate it.

“Then you're gonna have him for two, three seasons. Two seasons, maybe at his best. So, unfortunately, I think that United should look elsewhere."

Kane, who remains 47 goals shy of Alan Shearer's all-time record of 260 in the Premier League, has been linked with a move back to the Premier League. The former Tottenham star turns 33 next summer, and United may be tempted to sign younger strikers with more potential despite the Englishman’s vast experience.
