Germany and Bayern Munich icon Lothar Matthaus has compared Bayern Munich to his World Cup winning side as they are led by Vincent Kompany.

Bayern look unstoppable at the moment as they sit four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with a 22 goal difference in 6 unbeaten games. Kompany has created a side who look invincible with world-class players in every position.

Including all competitions, Bayern have played 10 games, secured 10 wins, and have scored 38 goals under Kompany who has received high praise from Matthaus who spoke to Sport Bild about how his side compares to the World Cup winning side in 1990.

"Vincent Kompany has brought something back to Bayern that some coaches before him hadn't managed, namely a sense of solidarity, a respectful way of dealing with one another," he said.

"He has united the team again. Similar to us at the 1990 World Cup: You get the feeling that the substitutes are just as happy when goals are scored as if they were on the pitch themselves.

“That's the best sign that the coach has the team under control, that the players also have good contact with one another and are giving their all for one another to achieve the greatest success.

"Kompany has further developed the team. He makes substitutions that he might not have made a year ago, so he's keeping the whole team together. Everything works, everyone enjoys being involved.”

Bayern are on track to defend their Bundesliga title after lifting the DFL-Supercup earlier this season. The German side look incredible and at the moment nothing can stop them on the road to more silverware, which will delight former Tottenham striker Harry Kane
