Derby County have completed the signing of defender Owen Beck on a season-long loan from Liverpool after he signed a new deal with the side.

The left-back spent half of last season on loan at Dundee United and has had previous spells at Famalicao, Bolton Wanderers as he makes his way through the academy. Beck becomes Derby’s first loan signing of the summer and sixth in total and when asked about the move he admitted he cannot wait to get started

"First and foremost, I want to play games. I want to play and stay injury-free. In the game, I'm going to set myself personal goals. Also, I'm sure the gaffer will have goals that he wants the team to achieve. Hopefully, I can hit my personal goals and help the team achieve theirs too."

He then opened up on manager John Eustace, who brought him to Ewood Park before taking over at Derby in February.

"Obviously, I know the gaffer well from last year. I spoke to him with that experience of working with him before in mind. It moved pretty fast and was a no-brainer for me.

"We built a really good connection. I feel like he got the best out of me. When he called up and we had that conversation again where he was looking to bring me in, it was a no-brainer, really!

"I enjoyed playing under him. As I said, I feel like he got the best out of me. I feel like he can get even more out of me this season, and I can push that step further."

"That's my job and the coach's job in that, whichever player comes to the football club, no matter how old or how young they are, they're coming into an environment where they're going to improve, get better, and to make sure that, on a Saturday, they're very competitive."

Beck’s Liverpool debut arrived in October 2021 with an outing off the bench in a Carabao Cup tie at Preston North End. He will now follow footsteps of several talents to make the loan move to Derby from Anfield, including Andre Wisdom, Jordon Ibe, Harry Wilson and Nat Phillips.
