Scotland qualified for a World Cup for the first time since France 1998 with a spectacular 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden Park in front of their home fans.
However, McGinn was barred from Scotland's World Cup celebrations last night as he had to take a drug test after the game.
"Random drugs test, it's always me!" he laughed as he exited a post match interview.
Speaking on social media once the match was over, Terry stated that this should not happen to players who simply want to celebrate with their side.
“Anyone who’s watched the Scotland game and seen John McGinn, the emotion in his interview after the game, and then he’s posted on social media this morning. Unfortunately, he got drug tested after the game.
“For anyone who doesn’t know, you get drug tested after a football match, get taken into a separate room away from celebrations. McGinn spoke in an interview and said it was probably one of the best nights of his life so far, and then you miss out on all the celebrations, all the photos.
“It happened to Petr Cech back in 2012 in Munich when we won the Champions League. Best and biggest night in the club’s history, and unfortunately there’s no pictures of Big Pete because he’s getting drug tested in a separate room. I think it’s something UEFA and FIFA need to look at - it’s these special moments as players that you cherish and live for. It’s something we should look into.”
McGinn shared a picture of himself undergoing a drug test in isolation following Scotland's World Cup qualification, which frustrated fans who would have loved to see the midfielder bouncing around with his teammates instead.
