Maresca has reportedly already started working on plans for when he takes over from Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager this summer as the Spaniard steps down.
Guardiola, who has officially announced he will be stepping down from the role at the end of the season, has been in charge of City for a decade and has won everything possible during his time with the Premier League side who reportedly see Maresca as a straight replacement.
Speaking to SveaCasino, Gallas believes that Maresca won’t find it easy however, as fans will want instant success which may become a problem for the former Chelsea boss.
“To repeat what Guardiola did is an impossible job. Not just for Maresca, I think any other manager would be in the same situation replacing Guardiola.
“It's impossible, doing what he did for City both on and off the pitch. The club and the fans should expect that.
“Maybe they will give the new manager time to adapt, but Guardiola has brought City to the highest level, they have won everything and they won’t want to stop.
“They are like Chelsea, it's a club where you have to win. The first thing you think if you sign for City is that you are coming there to win something. So, the fans will expect to see their players lift a trophy every season. That's why the pressure will be so high on Maresca.
“It depends on how many years they will give him to win his first trophy. Because now, as I said, City is a club where you expect to win a trophy every year. The fans will be a little bit upset if they don't get any trophy at the end of the season. So that's why the pressure is going to be high from day one.”
Reports state that Maresca is endorsed by Guardiola, who informed the players he was leaving last night. He has now released a video announcing he will depart but stated he will be taking up the role of Global Ambassador. Fans will have to wait to see Maresca announced, something Guardiola may speak more on this weekend as he waves goodbye to supporters.
