Caicedo has played every minute of Chelsea’s Premier League campaign so far this season under manager Enzo Maresca, who has got the best out of the young midfielder who is the club’s Premier League top scorer.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has established himself as one of the best in the world in his position since joining from Brighton for £115M in August 2023 and is living up to his price tag in West London.
These performances have led fans to compare him to club legends N’Golo Kante and Claude Makelele, to which he says he is honoured as he aims to become a figure to remember.
"It’s so good the fans love me, but for sure I am very far from N’Golo Kante or Makelele," Caicedo said in an interview with Chelsea's official media.
"What they did here was a lot. I am going to keep working because I want to become a legend here and reach a lot of things with this amazing club."
Caicedo is enjoying another brilliant campaign under Maresca as reports flood in stating that he is now more important that their former star man Cole Palmer. His goal against Liverpool at the weekend was superb and he admits that he wants to add more strikes like that to his game.
“I want to score goals to help the team. It was a great goal, I told myself this season I had to score one from outside the box, and I did it!”
