After only eight months and with Spurs just five points clear of the relegation zone, Frank was relentlessly sacked this week after a winless start to 2026 in the Premier League.
As reports link the likes of Oliver Glasner and Xabi Alonso to the role, it is Pochettino who is the favourite to take the job despite him being in charge of the USMNT ahead of the World Cup.
Pochettino spent five years at Spurs, overseeing a runners-up finish in the league, as well as taking the north London club to their first Champions League final which they lost to Liverpool.
Speaking to OLBG, body language expert Stanton has suggested that the Argentina manager may already be speaking with the Spurs hierarchy.
“I think Tottenham holds a very special place in his heart, because we see a lot of passion from him. His gestures, he was much more animated when he spoke about Tottenham. He used the pronoun 'we' a lot. So I think reading between the lines, just based on his emotional shift when talking about the Premier League and winning everything, you can see the passion within him, and it is something that he obviously wants to do.
“I wouldn't be surprised if he is already in talks. I get that instinct impression that he kind of knows of something, and that is why he is smiling. And we call that duping delight... and that's when we know something, but we can't say anything about it, or we feel we have got away with something.
“He has unfinished business. Basically, it has been like the stone in his shoe in terms of he didn't have closure.
“The club does hold a special place in his heart because we see these emotional shifts when he is speaking about something he is deeply passionate about.”
Pochettino referenced his “special” connection with the club on the High Performance Podcast on Sunday as the story develops and talks get underway between the two parties.
