The France striker is currently sidelined nursing a knee injury, with some in Spain claiming he is focused more on being fit for the World Cup rather than helping Real Madrid in their title pursuit.
But ahead of tonight's clash with Getafe, Arbeloa insisted: "I didn't understand anything other than giving everything for my club. And when I was with the national team, giving everything for my country. I don't understand footballers who hold back, don't put in a tackle, are afraid of getting injured, or are thinking about anything other than giving their all for Real Madrid in this case.
"There's no better way to prepare than to perform well for your team. That's what I expect from the players."
On Mbappe specifically, he also said: "We know exactly what's wrong with him. We want him to recover from this discomfort so he can return with confidence.
"We're going to take it day by day. It's a matter of seeing how he feels. Right now it's best not to give any deadlines; we want to see how he feels and we'll decide based on that."
