Mbappe was withdrawn on the eve of the playoff clash with a knee strain amid reports he won't be seen again for several weeks.
There have been suggestions that Mbappe is unhappy with the way Real's medicos have been treating the injury and is now seeking another opinion.
Arbeloa later told Movistar: "We have discussed with him and the doctors and we think it is better to stop, recover and get back to 100%.
"I can't say how long the absence will last, but it will be more than a few days.
"He had been experiencing discomfort in the previous days. After Tuesday's training we decided it was best to rest and recover completely."
