Flick has now won five titles in two years with Barcelona and has earned himself two more years at the club who clearly admire the Germans work so far.
"I'm really happy about this," Flick said in his last press conference before the club confirmed the news. "They have given me and my team the confidence to work one or two years more."
“I think a lot of coaches would be very happy if they signed a three, four-year contract. But in the case of Barça it is good to limit it.
“We will continue until 2028 and if everything goes well, we will make the decision to continue for another year.”
Now, the club have confirmed the news as Flick puts pen to paper on a deal that will delight fans.
“FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement to renew his contract, which will link him to the Club until June 30, 2028 plus an optional year.”
“The German signed his new contract on Monday at the Club's offices with FC Barcelona president Rafa Yuste, director of the Football Area, Anderson Luis de Souza “Deco”, and other members of the sporting commission all present. Also present was president-elect Joan Laporta.”
Barca clinched the title with three games to spare last week and has the opportunity to end the season on 97 points with a win over Barcelona this weekend.
Flick arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2024, replacing Xavi Hernandez as the first-team manager. He has found immense success, and now he will stay for another two years in a move that will only make the club stronger.
