Laporta said on Monday: "It was important for us to have someone with his experience and expertise, but if he's a phenomenon as a coach, he's even more so as a person.
"That day, the day he joined us, we realized we were doing something important, because he was a well-rounded coach, and he knew how to manage a group, a group of very young players alongside others with experience.
"If I were to return as president, he would stay until he decides to leave."
Flick's current deal with Barca runs to 2027.
