United caretaker manager Michael Carrick has let it be known that should he land the job long-term, he'd like to work with Rashford again.
Carrick was on Jose Mourinho's staff when Rashford made his debut with United and carried on with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the attacker enjoyed his best form as a player at Old Trafford.
However, Marca says Barcelona remains unfazed. They hold a permanent option and the priority is to exercise it.
United cannot back out of the agreement reached last summer, so Barcelona will acquire the player if they pay the €30m option, with the English giants powerless to stop them.
The only option they have would be to resort to diplomacy. That is, to convince the player to reject Barcelona and return to Old Trafford.
However, the belief is that's not going to happen. Rashford wants to continue playing for Barca. This is his current stance, and a few days ago he made statements to this effect, emphasising his intention to remain at the Nou Camp.
