It has been reported by The Telegraph that Carrick would be keen on reintegrating Rashford, 28, into the United squad should he get the job on a permanent basis.
According to the Daily Mirror, Rashford has no intention of returning to his boyhood club, however, and wants to remain at Barcelona.
Barcelona have a £30 million option to buy Rashford included in their loan deal, but the club are yet to make a decision on whether to activate it or not.
