Liam Rosenior was announced as the new Chelsea head coach this week following the sacking of Enzo Maresca last week.
He signs on a contract that runs until 2031 and includes the option to extend by a further 12 months, showing the faith in him from the board who are desperate to see the side turn around.
Rosenior will take his first training session as Chelsea boss at Cobham on Thursday morning, after the club’s clash with Fulham on Wednesday night.
Terry, a club legend who knows all about the impact of a new manager in the opening weeks, has issued advice to Rosenior who he hopes can turn the club around.
“You have an opportunity as a manager to come in the building, everyone, the players, are going to be looking,' Terry added. 'No doubt from a football perspective, all about results. But from a player's perspective, you get an opportunity to gain the respect of the players in those first meetings, those first training sessions as well.
“He's had a lot of experience from within that as well. So hopefully he manages to get that from the players.”
Rosenior will take charge of his first match at the helm of his new side for their FA Cup meeting with Charlton Athletic on Saturday, a match that will be keenly watched by fans who will be interested to see how the side approach the game.
