After crashing out of Europe and failing in the title race, City’s season has fallen apart, and they will rely on the EFL Cup and FA Cup to salvage their campaign under Pep Guardiola.
Ambrosini spoke to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football betting about how Guardiola’s side desperately need change if they are to get back to their title chasing best.
“I was in Madrid last week. This City team doesn't seem to be a typical Pep team. They lack quality, a certain fighting spirit. They have missed too many opportunities to close the gap with Arsenal. I think they need something new to refresh the project.
“They need to find a way to get Erling Haaland more involved; he's touching the ball so few times during matches. They constantly play in the final third but he barely gets a touch.
“That's why I see them struggling a little. All the other teams have become accustomed to playing against City right now. That is their biggest problem.”
City host Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4th and go head-to-head with Arsenal in the EFL Cup final this weekend in their final chances for silverware.
If no trophies are won, Guardiola may leave the club where he has been for several years as rumours circulate that he is aiming to take a break from football.
