Pep Guardiola’s side face an uphill battle to make the quarter-finals in a clash where Madrid can sit back and defend their lead at the Etihad.

Speaking to Stake, Aguero says anything can happen in football as he stays optimistic for what will be a very tough clash.

“Every match still has to be played. It’s an important gap, but at this level anything is possible. I’m sure City will go out there trying to win.

“Also, no two games are the same. It’s true that Madrid will recover Mbappé, Carreras and Bellingham, and that will make things harder. But you have to believe in the team.

“Many times it has been Madrid producing the comeback. Why couldn’t City do it this time? Especially a club like City that has “fight until the end” in its DNA.”

Real Madrid are boosted by the return of Kylian Mbappe, who had been sidelined since February with injury. Jude Bellingham also returns for the Spanish giants who will be filled with confidence as they head to the North of England.
