Liverpool are set to welcome Turkish giants Galatasaray to Anfield on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie where 3 players are walking a disciplinary tightrope.
As per UEFA’s ruling: “Players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, which did not result in a red card, as well as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.).”
Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones are all one yellow card away from reaching an odd number of cards which would render them unavailable for the next clash if the side reach the Quarter Final.
Another booking would see them miss the first leg of a potential quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain who brutally knocked out Premier League rivals Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Alongside Van Dijk, Conor Bradley is also on two yellow cards already this term, but he is ruled out for the remainder of the season so the Northern Ireland international isn’t a worry for manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool have staged numerous Champions League comebacks at Anfield over the years, including the win over Barcelona in 2019.
The Reds will have to be at their best to make a comeback against Galatasaray whilst also avoiding any players being ruled out for the clash against the French champions.
