Liverpool boss Arne Slot has spoken to the media as he prepares to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Liverpool were comfortably beaten 2-0 in the French capital last week on a night where the European champions will feel like they should’ve grabbed more than two as The Reds remained defensive throughout the first leg.

PSG travel to Merseyside looking to finish the job whilst Liverpool aim to use Anfield as a fortress against the Ligue 1 giants who will have their eye on defending their European crown.

How has Slot amped up his side?

Slot, who picked up a 2-0 win over Fulham at the weekend, first spoke on what he has said to his side who may take inspiration from there 4-0 comeback triumph over Barcelona in the semi-finals seven years ago.

"First of all remind them what the score was - that it was 2-0. It felt completely different, as we all know, but the end result was 2-0. Second of all we have shown so many times in big games this season that we are able to get a great performance.

"We have also shown a completely different face, I am completely aware of that, but many of our games that we have played were very good as well. Especially in big games.

"In the 49 home games we have played (under me) 36 times we were able to score two goals or more. Yes, we have not played all these 49 games against Paris St-Germain, I realise that, but the Premier League and Champions League opponents we had were very strong.

"So yes there is a belief we can do special things tomorrow but we need to be very, very, very special tomorrow to achieve that. We are playing the champions of Europe so that makes the task more difficult but not impossible."

Anfield needs to become a fortress

The win over Fulham was Liverpool's fourth win from their last five matches at Anfield, during which they have gone unbeaten and scored 15 times. Slot says fans will play a huge role in boosting the side who need every advantage they can get.

"Just as important as our performance. We have to be much better than last week. Their players have experienced Anfield and they think they know what is coming up. I hope our fans can find an extra gear to last season. I argue if it is possible because the atmosphere last season was unbelievable.

"I think our fans are up for it to make it even louder, which is also needed. I can trust them to be even louder than last season."

Liverpool must be exceptional

Finally, Slot touched more upon what is needed to beat PSG, a side who boast four victories from their last four away games, keeping clean sheets in each of their last three.

"We know we need an exceptional performance to go to the next round, but that's completely normal when you face the champions of Europe.

"We've been able to score more than two goals on occasions. But for now let's just focus on the job on hand, start aggressive and make sure we can get back in the tie and that is by scoring goals. I know that they will try and score the first goal, we are going to try as well."
