The 25-year-old striker, who is currently trying to force his way to league champions Liverpool, is caught in the centre of one of the most controversial transfers of the summer. Newcastle rejected an offer from Liverpool, worth up to £110M earlier in the summer as the saga continues.
Isak released a statement on Tuesday confirming he has no intention of playing for Newcastle again as a result of “broken promises”. Now, Shearer has given his brutal opinion on the Swedish striker’s agent, who he thinks should be thrown to the wolves as soon as possible to avoid another event such as this.
“If I was him, I’d get his agent in a room and sack him on the spot immediately, because he is meant to be giving him the advice to sign that six-year deal and there’s no get out clause.
“I mean, it’s ridiculous. And to take anyone’s word in football… it’s nonsensical to say that someone said, ‘Oh, I’ll be able to get out at the end of the season’. Really? I mean, come on. I’ve always said there are two sides to every story, but my feelings are exactly the same: he’s gone about it in the wrong way.”
Isak missed Newcastle’s opening game of the season as they drew 0-0 at Aston Villa. They face Liverpool on Monday night in what should be a very heated clash as each side hopes to snatch 3 points and prove a point to Isak. Shearer believes that Isak’s statement has no helped the situation and in fact makes it worse ahead of next week’s clash.
