Brentford have raised their asking price for Yoane Wissa as Newcastle United aim to replace Alexander Isak who wants a move to Liverpool this summer.

Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, has made it clear he wants to leave Brentford to make his dream of featuring in the Champions League come true. Earlier this week he deleted every post of him connected to the Bees in a controversial move which only shows his desperation to leave this summer.

The 28-year-old did not play for the Bees in their opening-weekend 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest and has been training away from the first-team squad. Brentford manager Keith Andrews said Wissa was not in the right headspace to play against Forest and revealed afterwards that he was unsure what the future held for him.

Brentford agreed a £42M deal for Dango Ouattara this week as reports flooded in stating that Wissa would now be free to leave. However, Andrews confirmed that his arrival was to offset Bryan Mbeumo’s departure to Manchester United in what was tough news to take for the Magpies

Now, even worse for the club is that Standard Sport have reported that Brentford have raised their asking price for Wissa from £50M to £60M which comes after they after rejected an opening offer of £30M from Newcastle earlier this summer.

If no deal were to happen it could have a knock-on effect on Isak’s hopes of joining Liverpool as he continues to train away from the squad who drew 0-0 to Aston Villa over the weekend and looked toothless in attack without him.
