Chamberlain has been maintaining his fitness by training with the Gunners, after he had his contract terminated by Turkish giants Besiktas back in August after two successful seasons away from England.
The former Arsenal midfielder has had the chance to play amongst many top talents who have burst into the first team in recent years, but there is one who stood out to him, above the rest.
When asked by The Athletic, who he had been most impressed by so far, Chamberlain admitted that Dowman really caught his eye.
“What a player he is,” he says. “I’ve played against him many times, but just seeing how he trains, the way he works, how sharp his finishing is, he’s really impressive.
“And I’ve been really impressed by the young guys, like Max (Dowman), Ethan (Nwaneri) and Myles (Lewis-Skelly). Ability-wise and the way they are as characters, it’s really impressive at such a young age.”
Unfortunately, the 15 year old is expected to be out for around two months after sustaining ankle ligament damage and has been pulled out of Arsenal’s Champions League squad this week.
Arsenal's 28 injuries is the highest in the Premier League this season and miss the likes of William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Cristhian Mosquera, Kai Havertz and now Dowman.
Despite so many injuries, Chamberlain i will never feature for the side again, even if he admits he wants to return to the pitch.
"I want to play. I don’t feel old. I’m fit, and I’ve still got that hunger.”
