Salah accused Liverpool of throwing him "under the bus" and claimed that he has no relationship with head coach Arne Slot. The Egyptian king was subsequently left out of the squad for the 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League as rumours grow around his future.
The interview after the Leeds United game has brought the 33-year-old a wave of criticism, including from pundits and former players such as Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, who says he was wrong to speak out in such a manner.
Now, speaking on CBS Sports, Henry has given his opinion on the situation, siding with the club and Slot.
"You need to protect your team at all costs, all the time. I can understand you want to speak. I can understand the frustration. I don't (understand) the how and the when. That doesn't make sense to me. That was wrong, and when people talk about relationships, the only relationship a coach wants to have with a player is for him to perform.
"If you're not performing, then your position is in danger. It's not (your) due to have a position, especially at a club like Liverpool…It has nothing to do, again, with what he has achieved. I repeat – I love Mo Salah. I love what he has done in the game. That's a different topic. There, that's not how you go about stuff."
Salah said it "is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame" - without saying who that person is - before claiming that "someone doesn't want me in the club."
The winger has scored 250 goals in all competitions and helped them win two Premier League titles and the Champions League but the interview was enough for many to believe that the January transfer window will see him depart the club after several years of service.
