Inter lost the first-leg of their playoff 3-1, with Francesco Pio Esposito on the scoresheet for the visitors.
Chivu said afterwards: "We knew it wouldn't be easy; the first half is a testament to the match. Adapting to the conditions wasn't easy, but our attitude was right.
"Even after conceding the goal, we got back into the game, but then we were a bit surprised by their ball control in transitions, where they are really good. We'll need to be the same way in forgetting about this game.
"Now there's the championship, and then we'll think about the return leg because everything is still open."
The Romanian also said: "What impressed us was the intensity and quality of their transitions; we were slow and surprised when we came back. Other teams aren't used to this pitch, and they manage to do something more than their opponents.
"Now we have to lick our wounds, take stock of our ailments and play the next match, which will be just as important. I'll tell the boys that there's still one game left and qualification is still all to play for."
