Mainoo is ready to seek a loan move away from United in January after being let down by Amorim over his lack of minutes on the pitch this season. The England star saw attempts to leave at the end of the summer transfer window blocked, and now this January is his chance to escape the side.
The likes of Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes are all favoured ahead of Mainoo and Amorim is rumoured to be interested in reforming his midfield without the 20-year-old in the summer.
Now, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mainoo is wanted by a number of clubs including Napoli who are keen on drawing him away.
“Napoli remain among +10 clubs keen on Kobbie Mainoo since August, still very attentive to the situation.
“Deal depends on Man United decision, as Amorim doesn’t want to lose players while many are away for the AFCON.”
Mainoo is yet to start a Premier League game this season and is unlikely to feature anytime soon, even with the Africa Cup of Nations beginning over the next week as Amorim seeks to rotate his side.
The midfielder did make it off the bench at Wolves on Monday night, playing the final just 12 minutes in the 4-1 victory. In less than a month the transfer window will open, and it looks likely that Mainoo will force his way out to a club who appreciates him.
