Monday’s 4-1 demolition of Wolves was United's biggest win of the season, equalling a four-goal haul Amorim's side have no matched since he arrived at the club 13 months ago.
A Bruno Fernandes-inspired performance was required as United tore into Wolves, who suffered their 8th straight loss. United had 27 shots, their most in a Premier League game under the Portuguese manager, but their performance was not perfect as they entered half-time at 1-1.
Speaking after the match, Amorim revealed what he said to his side who needed an extra boost to go out and grab all 3 points.
"It wasn't tactical," he said. "It was so clear we are dominating the games but not finishing the plays as we should. We need to be better in the details. Trying to explain to the players, we have 45 minutes to win the three points that are crucial for our life.
"Once again, after we scored a goal, we were a little bit sloppy on the ball and that gave a little bit of hope to the opponent," he said.
"We should have finished that half in the different way, and then in the half-time they understood that we have everything to win the game, to win three points – and they did that."
United host Bournemouth next Monday in what should be a much tougher clash for Amorim’s side who not sit 6th in the Premier League table. He spoke on momentum ahead of the game as his side take a week’s rest.
“We have always to build momentum. We need to reach a point in this club that we can have 20 wins in a row, the next one is so important and crucial to win. For us, every training, every game is important, so we need to focus on the next one and to win the next one.”
