Madonna, Shakira and K-pop boy band BTS will co-headline half-time show at this summer's World Cup final alongside British band Coldplay.
Broadcasters ITV and BBC are ready to snub the World Cup final half-time show as they instead focus on their own analysis before the start of the second half.
Fifa chief Gianni Infantino reportedly wants the show to become as big as the Super Bowl’s, a plan which has agitated fans as well as Leboeuf who spoke to CSB about how the idea may hurt player performance.
“The half-time show? I don't like it. I understand we're going to be in the United States and I follow the Super Bowl so I know what it's about, but I don't like it.
“We have rules, we have traditions as well in our game, and it's a worldwide game. It's not a domestic game like it could be for American football, for example. So no, I'm not for it.
“I'm not for it, especially for a final. It's going to be late for some people around the world, and they're going to have to wait like half an hour and 45 minutes to see the second half, and for the players. Players are not used to that.
“They want to have a rest of 15 minutes, and we are really impatient after 10. We want to go back to the fight, and that's why I don't like it, but it is what it is.”
Broadcasters will have a longer half-time period, which will alter their programming and schedules, therefore affecting how players performn in what may be the biggest game in their careers.
