It was widely reported that Real Madrid were the club most interested, but they have since released a statement saying that they will not be making a move to sign him.
Fernandez had just scored an added time header to send Argentina through to the World Cup quarter final when he was asked by DAZN about his future.
Per Fabrizio Romano, Fernandez responded: “I'm not thinking about my future now.
“I'm here living this moment that is incredible for me and after the World Cup, we'll see.”
