New Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola is expecting a busy few weeks in the transfer market ahead of the Reds return for preseason at the end of July.

Iraola signed a two-year contract at Anfield in June as part of the club's bold move to sack Arne Slot and the Basque coach is keen to put his own stamp on the team.

Fellow Spaniard Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna alongside a pre-agreed deal for French defender Jeremy Jacquet - but Iraola is targeting more new faces.

Several big-name departures have left holes in Liverpool's squad and Iraola has a budget to bolster with a mix of youth and experience ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The latest from Teamtalk indicates the Reds are ready to rival old foes Manchester United in the race for Gilberto Mora after the 17-year-old caught the eye in Mexico's run to the last 16 at the 20226 FIFA World Cup.

Mora, who plays his club football at Liga MX side Club Tijuana - where he penned a contract extension until 2029 before the World Cup, - but that includes a 'structured exit strategy designed to protect both the player and club'.

Effectively, Club Tijuana are not expected to stand in Mora's way if he wants to leave and a suitable transfer offer arrives, with the teenager being scouted by clubs from across Europe in the last 12 months.

United had hoped to tie up a £10M deal before the World Cup kicked off and triggered more focus on Mora, but despite their longer standing interest in the precocious midfielder, Liverpool are now firmly in the hunt to sign him.
