Leoni has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan, where his former Parma coach Cristian Chivu is now in charge.
Sky Deutschland says Liverpool see the 18 year-old as an alternative to Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Leoni stands at 6ft 5in and played 17 Serie A games last season.
