Comolli has taken some flak for his decisions so far since his appointment.
But Chiellini, now the club's head of international relations at Juve, told Tuttosport: "No, that's a bit of a distorted description.
"He's very data-conscious because he believes in numbers, but that doesn't mean he's just a data man with no human presence. He's still unknown to many of us, including myself."
Chiellini also said: "I met him in March at a UEFA meeting. We were sitting next to each other at the table and chatted for a long time, without knowing we'd end up working together. We laughed a lot when he arrived in Turin.
"He's a great person to work with. We're building a structure that will be completed in the fall: work is work, time will tell if it's good or bad, but there's a real desire to sacrifice ourselves to create that winning cycle we were talking about earlier."
