Manchester United reportedly have priority to sign Atalanta's Ederson this summer.

United boss Michael Carrick has confirmed that Casemiro has played his final game for the club in what is now a huge gap to fill in midfield for the Red Devils.

The 34 year old brought stability alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park and Carrick will be keen to swiftly replace him before the campaign begins.

The likes of Elliot Anderson, Aurelien Tchouameni, Sandro Tonali and Carlos Baleba are on the midfield shortlist but it is Ederson who is leading the way to step in for Casemiro this summer.

United are now on the brink of sealing a £45M move for the 26-year-old and as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they are now locked in talks.

“Éderson has paused all other clubs keen on signing him to give priority to Man United.

“#MUFC in advanced talks with Atalanta but waiting to give their final green light to proceed and close the deal.”

Atalanta finished their Serie A campaign with a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina in which Ederson was left out of the squad.

All signs point towards Ederson leaving in the final year of his contract and a United move looks almost certain as transfer talks continue between both parties.
