Stankovic, the son of Inter hero Dejan Stankovic, left Inter last summer for Club Brugge, where his form has exploded this season.
The Nerazzurri hold several buy-back options in the deal and the young Serb told Sky Italia: "I started playing football at 4 years old, wearing the Inter shirt, living 100 meters from San Siro. It remains a dream like that of many Inter fans. With a surname like mine, it wasn't easy.
"I see it as a positive thing, you have someone very close to you who has experienced the same things before you."
He added, "Brugge is a huge club, I'm really happy here. Returning to Inter is a dream. One day, who knows when, maybe it will come true. Right now, my dream is to finish the season here and do it well.
"Wherever my future lies, I want to live it like I did this season, as a protagonist."
