The Portuguese forward reportedly feels his club Al Nassr are not being backed financially as much as their title rivals Al-Hilal in a move that was triggered by the transfer of former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema joining the club.
According to NOW, meetings have been held between Al Nassr and the PIF, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund who own the top sides in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr are one of four Saudi Pro League clubs owned by the Saudi state, joined by Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad in the PIF’s portfolio.
Ronaldo, 41, joined Al Nassr on a free transfer following the termination of his contract at Manchester United in December 2022 and has since failed to win anything with the club who are 1 point off league leaders Al-Hilal.
The report claims that the Portuguese icon is back in contention for Al-Nassr boss Jorge Jesus and is expected to start against Al Fateh on Saturday in what is a huge boost for the side.
Ronaldo was absent from the club’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Riyadh on Monday but has not stopped training with the squad as he keeps up his relentless fitness regime.
The forward signed a two-year contract extension with Al-Nassr last June, reportedly worth £480,000 per day which has hurt his argument against the Al-Nassr owners who clearly aren’t afraid of splashing the cash.
