United brought in Zirkzee from Bologna in the summer of 2024 when Erik ten Hag was the club’s manager.
However, he has featured just 20 times this season across all competitions and has scored a measly two goals.
The Dutchman, now almost 25 is playing second fiddle to Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko who have all have made promising starts to their respective Old Trafford careers since signing last summer.
This has led to Zirkzee being linked with a move away once the campaign is over, something that The Mirror report that Zirkzee and his team are “unconvinced” that a move away will happen.
The Dutchman has been limited to just 18 Premier League appearances, but only four have come as starts under both Ruben Amorim and now interim manager Michael Carrick who seems reluctant to give him a chance.
Zirkzee is contracted to 2029 and is believed to be open to departing United this summer. English clubs such as Everton as well as the likes of Italian sides such as Juventus and AC Milan credited with an interest in taking him back to Italy.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Zirkzee has a desire to remain at United beyond this summer even if it means playing less as he is still young and can grow into the player that United expected when they snapped him up.
