Palace won 3-1 on the night, with Spurs having Micky van de Ven sent off on 38 minutes.
Wharton said afterwards, "We have been on a good run of scoring in consecutive games recently, the gaffer has been mentioning it. We had a sticky patch when goals weren't coming and now they are starting to come.
"It's great for the attackers, it gives them confidence."
The win keeps Palace within touching distance of the European places and Wharton also said: "The target is to aim as high as possible, the gaffer has been saying it. The league is crazy this year, if we take each game as it comes we have a good chance of climbing the table.
"There is a lot of room for improvement and I'm the first to critique myself. It's never going to be perfect, I'm just trying to work hard every day with the gaffer and with my team to keep improving."
