And the great irony is that Osula has close ties to Manchester United.
Further, Geordie Carrick, of course, has his own connections to Newcastle, having come through Wallsend before being picked up by West Ham as a player.
As United manager, over two spells, Carrick had been unbeaten in 10 games before last night's return to home soil and St James' Park.
And it was Osula who struck the winner on 90 minutes sealing a 2-1 triumph for the hosts - which was extra special for the youngster.
Over a decade ago, Osula won a Manchester United Soccer School World Skills final and was presented his trophy on the Old Trafford pitch by former United defender Gary Pallister.
The win leaves Newcastle in 12th place on the Premier League table, with United currently in third place.
