Tottenham Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham has spoken on the state of the club after a disastrous season.

Spurs avoided relegation on the final day of the season thanks to a 1-0 win over Everton as they sealed their spot in the Premier League ahead of the new season.

After 4 different managers and an incredibly long injury list, Tottenham are reviewing their season as reports even suggest the club have launched a review of what went wrong throughout the year.

Speaking to the BBC on a broad range of subjects, Venkatesham opened up on state of the side and how he has optimism for the future.

"It's clearly not good enough. I think that is rational, normal, sensible, and, is what we would expect from supporters.

"The club had some serious challenges that it needs to address on the football side. We know what those are. We are addressing them. We are fixing them. Those challenges have not disappeared overnight.

"They built up over many years. I wish I could wave my magic wand and fix them overnight, but that is not possible. It takes some time to fix those issues.

"So I have complete confidence in what we're doing, how we're doing it. But supporters are rightly impatient. So I have to weather that storm."

On surviving relegation: "I think it was just a huge outpouring of relief. But obviously feeling relief at the end of the season is nowhere near the standard of the football club."

As faith grows, The north London club are looking to act quickly ahead of this summer's World Cup according to reports as they build a side who won’t just survive relegation, but also challenge for a spot amongst Europe’s elite once again.
