"When Stuttgart's demands came up, I told Uli Hoeness, Herbert Hainer, Jan Dreesen and Max Eberl: 'Guys, we end up in amounts that I simply no longer find acceptable'," Rummenigge, a member of Bayern Munich's board, said.
He then joked that one could only congratulate Stuttgart on finding an "idiot" who paid so much money and added, "We certainly wouldn't have done that in Munich."
In response, Wehrle told BILD, sarcastically: "We are always happy with congratulations from Munich..."
