Son left Tottenham after almost a decade in North London in what was a tough farewell for the winger who decided to swap the Premier League for the MLS. He said his goodbyes to Spurs fans following a 1-1 friendly draw against Newcastle in South Korea before departing in what felt like an awkward goodbye.
In an interview with Shoot for Love, Son spoke about how he longs to return to the side to say farewell in what would be an emotional moment for both parties.
"I definitely think this is the right time to say, because at the time the transfer was going on and the last game was in Korea, obviously I will go back to London to see all the Spurs fans," he said.
"I think I deserve to say goodbye in front of all of them, and also, they deserve to see me in a physical sense to say goodbye. It’s going to be a very emotional day as well, but I think I definitely can’t wait to go back to London and see all the Spurs fans."
The Europa League-winning captain is yet to confirm details of when he might return to England as he is busy helping LAFC in the MLS Cup play-offs when they will face Austin FC.
However, the 33 year old will be back in some capacity in the near future and it will be a warm welcome for the club legend who played 445 games and scored 173 goals for the side as he established himself as a legendary figure.
