After Salah's outburst against the manager and directors following Saturday's draw at Leeds, Slot left the striker at home for their midweek Champions League win at Inter Milan.
For his first question this morning ahead of their clash with Brighton at Anfield, Slot was asked for an update on the controversy,.
He said, "I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome determines how (things will develop).
"What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow.
"You can try in multiple ways but I just said the next time I speak about him should be with him. I think there's been a lot of conversations since the last week between his reps and ours.
"An apology? Normally I'd say you've had your three questions!!"
Slot was also asked about axing Salah for the Inter clash and whether he made the decision independently.
He explained, "Who made the call? I think we decided as a club and I was part of that not to take him to Inter. I am always in contact with them with lineup and squads, that is always left to me. I talk to Richard Hughes more than Michael Edwards, we speak about many things.
"Do I want him to stay? Another way of asking but the next time I speak about Mo will be with him. I see no reason why I don't want him to stay.
"It's useless asking this question...unbeaten in four? This club has won a lot of games with Mo, so that is the answer."
Anfield form not the only issue
Indeed, after the win in Milan, Slot was in jovial mood today and was keen to move onto tomorrow's opponents Brighton.
Asked about the Seagulls, Slot was eager to focus on his own team: "We've shown we are difficult to beat and create chances against in the last 4 games, team has put a lot of effort in.
"A bit unlucky with the results but showed great resilience, 4 games in 10 days without many players available. So that is a big compliment to them."
On their issues at home this season, Slot continued: "I could understand this question but I don't think that is the situation, we have struggled home and away too many times. There are reasons about that which I have spoken about many times. I don't home games and our results, I see it in all the othet things I've said for why we have dropped points and lost games."
The Dutchman also admitting opposition managers are now targeting - physically - Liverpool's defence.
He explained, "Brighton threat? I said it and it's so clear and obvious that if you see the league, it is much more direct. There is the league and then there is Liverpool for how teams play. That is one thing and we've seen certain gameplans against us more and more as well.
"We have to adapt and the Sunderland game, we struggled to create a lot of chances."
Isak and Ekitike
Asked for an assessment on summer signings Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, Slot insists we're now seeing the pair find form as they play more consistently.
He went on: "What we all saw, which is normal, the more they play, the more they will adapt and the better they will cooperate. The other two 9s on the pitch for Inter were more used to playing with each.
"It's the second time they have played together and I think we will see more of this in the future. Alex got a knock in the first half, so let's see if he is able to start tomorrow."
Pushed if it is time to change tactics and go 'more direct' like opposition managers, Slot admits Isak and Ekitike offers that option.
He explained, "I don't think height tells you a player is perfectly equipped for that direct style. Some are tall and struggle, others aren't and dominate. Alex and Hugo, you can better use them in behind than long balls into their body.
"I see Hugo trying to do this better and better but there's room for improvement as there is with so many parts of our games."
Happy being out of Carabao Cup
Slot was also keen to highlight the return of senior goalkeeper Alisson ahead of the Christmas schedule. While pleased with reserve keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili's form, Slot admits Alisson's return is a boost.
He said, "Every time a player is available, let alone someone as good as him, it is helpful but Giorgi did a great job. I don't think either has had a lot to do because we hardly concede a chance.
"We've hardly a conceded a chance in the last 4 games. Giorgi did a good job but it's nice to have Ali back."
Expanding on Liverpool's injuries this season, Slot says the calendar is working against them - blaming the fixture list for their Carabao Cup exit.
He said, "I think it is helpful in the weeks ahead we don't play as many games until now. Have many teams played three games in seven days this season? We've had to do it three times.
"I am almost happy we are out of the League Cup. 13 outfield players with PL experience and we had to go Arsenal away on Tuesday after so many games, maybe some can understand better why I made this lineup against Palace. It wasn't good for me but I did it for the team."
Liverpool host Brighton tomorrow sitting in 10th place on the Premier League table, two spots behind Brighton, who sit in eighth.
