Fulham won 2-1, with Kenny Tete and Harry Wilson scoring inside the first six minutes before Mohammed Kudus just before the hour.
Silva said afterwards: “Being clinical like we were, scoring twice in the first six minutes, gave us that confidence and the boost that we needed.
“We knew that it was another chance for us to change our away form. We knew that they have not been, in terms of results, so strong at home as well.
“They wanted to start on the front foot, and we spoke before the match that it was going to be very important for us to start strong as well, (and) we were clinical.
“The first two moments, we score, and football sometimes is about small margins. And of course, in some away games this season so far, those margins are not coming in our favour.
“Of course, the first shot, after that deflection, the small margin came for us. It’s a good goal from Kenny, but of course that deflection helps ourselves."
Wonder goal
On Wilson's wonder goal, Silva smiled: “What a finish from Harry Wilson! Top, top class goal from him. The confusion, knowing that Vicario was not in the goal, first touch of the ball and he scored.
“The first half was top from ourselves. We should have scored more, we should have killed the game – twice with Chuka, off the post and after the one-on-one with Vicario, and some other moments that with a different decision probably we should have scored more.
“And we didn't give anything for them first half, that is the reality. I don’t remember one clear-cut chance from Tottenham all the first half, because we kept the discipline and organisation, controlled them very well.
“When some danger came from their right hand side, like one-v-one situations with (Mohammed) Kudus, I believe that Sess had a great night again.
“And early crosses from (Pedro) Porro, they are strong in that moment with two strikers tonight, I think we defended well our box first half, we didn't give many things for them.”
He also said, “Second half, we suffered a bit more, and we suffered more than we should, in my opinion,” was Silva’s assessment.
“We didn't start well the second half. We knew that it's going to be important for us at the start to keep the possession, to keep more of the ball. We knew that if we give three, four passes between ourselves, they were there jumping on the pressure and we are going to create more problems for them."
