However, a draw on Tuesday night against West Ham United means that streak is now reset.
Frank Ilett has attracted headlines across the world after vowing not to cut his hair until the Red Devils win five matches in a row, something that may not happen for what may be another year.
Many fans are divided on Illet, believing he is an attention seeker who does not care about the club. Rooney spoke on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast about the fans whose hair is only growing.
"I'd put him to the other side of the country.
“He is doing my head in. We are talking about Michael Carrick and Man United trying to win their fifth game in a row and the whole thing is about this guy getting his haircut.
“I bet he is devastated if Man United win because he will be irrelevant."
His last haircut was on October 5th, 2024, two days after United's 3-3 Europa League draw against Porto and one prior to a 0-0 stalemate at Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Carrick was also asked about the United Strand's challenge ahead of the game against West Ham.
"I can say I'm aware of it, yeah. My kids have made me aware of it, if anything, but it certainly won't go into the team talk from a professional level. I can understand what's going on with it, and it does make me smile but it won't have an impact ultimately in the end."
